Early Bird Espresso and Brew Bar

I knew I was in for a treat as soon as I stepped into Early Bird and got a whiff of their delicious coffee. The latte I ordered confirmed that this place knows their beans. If you are a coffee connoisseur like I am then this is definitely a place to check out. The bearded baristas are friendly and helpful, and the overall vibe is very comfortable and relaxed. Free Wi-Fi and a mix of smaller and larger tables makes this a great place to either stop in for a quick snack, or to spend a cozy afternoon with a book.

The 37 inch front doorway provides ample space to enter and there is an automatic door opener. One thing to note is the corner that must be negotiated in order to enter, which may be an issue for larger scooters. The wide sidewalk out front is barrier-free, and the street-level entrance makes for a smooth entry. Once inside, there are single-level cement floors and a generous route to the counter which is located at the back of the store. There are several scatter rugs on the floor to soak up snow and slush. There's plenty of floor space for turning in front of the counter. Table tops are over 29 inches high, and all have removable chairs.

There is a single washroom at the back of the store with a 35 inch doorway, plenty of floor space, two grab bars surrounding the toilet, and a 30 inch high floating sink. No automatic features in this washroom, but toilet paper, soap and paper towels are easily accessible.

Sadly, Early Bird's outdoor patio is not accessible due to a flight of stairs. There is street parking out front and a "Green P" parking lot about two blocks away at 15 Denison Ave. The closest subway station is Osgoode, although it is about a 20 minute walk away.
