Toronto food critic Joanne Kates thinks that Célestin is "French cooking of the future", and who am I to disagree. The wonderful part is that the restaurant is completely accessible which allows everyone in the city the opportunity to try French cooking (and drinking) at its best.

What is actually quite interesting about this French bistro is that its founding chef, Pascal Ribreau, made headlines when he was injured in a motor vehicle accident in 1999 and become a paraplegic. He went on to create an accessible space for himself at Célestin and a state-of-the-art standing chair so that he could continue sharing his passion for food. The restaurant is located at the quiet corner of Mount Pleasant and Manor Rd. It is easily visible and there is an automatic button at the front entrance for easy access. The entrance measures at 35 inches.

Inside the space is simple and bright. There are several tables, but they are spaced out enough to provide adequate transport space and privacy! All tables measure 29 inches from the floor. The washrooms are located beside the kitchen. The room consists of a small sink and two washroom stalls, one being completely accessible with dual grab bars, large 34 inch door and 72x72 inch dimensions.

Management states that parking is available at the back of the restaurant off of Manor Rd, however there are no markings indicating that this is the case. I would recommend asking with your reservation just to be sure. If taking transit, both the Yonge & Eglinton and Davisville stations are available but both are a few blocks west.

Make sure to inquire about group events or private parties as the space can definitely accommodate. Overall great French food, wine and service- I will be back.
