Hale Coffee – Bloor and Church
Hale Coffee is a Toronto based coffee company that has been around for several years already. Their location at Bloor and Church is their fifth location in the city. This location sells bar made drinks, pastries, bags of Hale house roasted coffee and some coffee gear as well. This location was once used by another coffee shop from a major chain and is in the base of a large office building.
The main entrance is on Church Street with street level access and a 88cm wide powered door. The Interior flooring is all hard smooth surfaces. There is a large shelf running down the middle of the store with various bags of coffee. It breaks up the space, but the isles were wide enough to navigate still. The only indoor seating is the bar height stools by the front window. This is due to the small indoor space, this is primary a take out location.
The bar counter height is 96cm which I would consider a little too high for my seating position. However it wasn’t bad and staff were quick to pass over the wireless point of sale termination without any issue.
The bathroom is behind the shop and shared with a neighbor. Thankfully the door both to the small hallway (86cm) and the washroom itself (92cm) are both powered. There is an accessible stall in each washroom with grab bars and a 92cm wide door. The sink was at a 84cm counter height and had automatic features as well. A nice touch was the full-length mirror on the wall near by so wheelchair users or anyone unable to see the above sink mirror is covered.
As it is late spring in Toronto currently there is a small outdoor patio setup next to the store. There were several standard patio tables and moveable metal chairs.
I think this location is worth a visit if you’re in the area and feel like grabbing a coffee. The space is small but inviting and the customer service was great during my two visits.
The is some street parking on Church and the surrounding streets. The closest accessible TTC stop would be Bloor and Yonge Station.
AccessTO was once again invited to attend TIFF this past September. Once again this is a post in review. There is so much coverage that goes out live for many outlets that I decide there is no need to compete with them during the festival.
