Northern Maverick Brewery is definitely my kind of place! This upscale brewery features a chefs/brewmasters tasting menu with beer pairings, an oyster bar, and house made charcuterie. But it’s not all glamour- the bar area has a nice handful of big screens if you’re just looking to catch the game and sip on a few frosty tall ones.
The easiest way to get there by transit would be the 511-accessible streetcar, which comes from either the exhibition loop or the accessible Bathurst station on the Line 2 subway. There is public parking on the street, surface parking as well as an underground parking garage. The garage has accessible parking spots, however the elevator goes straight into a condo building so you have to exit going up the ramp… Which can be a bit precarious.
The location is on the southeast corner of Bathurst and Adelaide, so there is cut out curbs at the crosswalks as well as a level sidewalk all the way to the front entrance. There is an outdoor patio which is all one level along Bathurst Street, but it’s hard to comment much further since everything is packed up for these horribly unpredictable winter months.
The sidewalk, entrance and restaurant are all without level changes, aside from one emergency exit that is up a few steps. Automatic doors at the entrance are 39” and there is plenty of room in the front foyer to leave any mobility devices such as a scooter. There is also several posts scattered around the dining room area perfect for hanging coats and canes. Flooring is all concrete and there is a mix of booths, standard and bar height tables. In general, the space within the aisles and between tables is large and it was easy for me to maneuver in my powerchair.
There is a fantastic accessible, single washroom with a lever handle or automatic button to operate the 37” door. There is plenty of space, a floating sink 29” high, grab bars beside and behind the toilet and a change table.
Massive windows let in tons of light during the day and the space is well lit after dark also. Service animals are welcome and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our server even happened to be a super cool, fellow Cincinnati Bengals fan. Who Dey!
