If you love Pizza like we do then we encourage you to check out Blaze Pizza. A build-your-own
custom made fast fired style pizza restaurant. You can order from the set pizzas styles or create your dream pizza by picking your own crust, sauce, cheese, meat, veggies and choose from the vast variety of toppings.
Blaze Pizza is located at 10 Dundas Street across from Yonge Dundas square. Blaze Pizza’s
entrance has no threshold and has two sets of double doors each 34” wide, both with accessible door openers. The front of the restaurant should accommodate you to park and maneuver mobility devices. I choose to park at the table because it is quite busy and it is easier of access. The flooring is smooth concrete throughout the restaurant with no thresholds or changes in texture.
The menu at the front of the restaurant was easy to read; it is also accessible online on their website and there is not a great deal that needs to be read as all the toppings are on display. You can also order online and then come in and pick up your pizza. The staff are very friendly and will help you with ordering if needed.
The space is open concept and features large windows that provide natural lighting. There are
multiple seating options: 29” tables with benches, 36” bar tables 42” and standard height (30”) tables with removable chairs located throughout the restaurant. The restaurant can get busy on weekends especially in the evenings. We went on a Sunday at 11am when the restaurant opened and found the music playing in the background a bit loud.
The accessible private washroom features both a lever handle and an automatic door that is 36” wide. There is also a change table. The toilet has one grab bar on the side at 33” high and another grab bar behind the toilet at 33” high. The sink was 29” high and has automatic features. There is a manual soap dispenser and automatic hand dryer beside the sink.
Blaze Pizza is steps from the accessible Dundas station on the Yonge line. Building signage is large enough that you can see from a distance. There are plenty of Green P lots in the area, with the closest one being directly across the street at 25 Dundas Street E. Sidewalks out front of the building are wide and well-maintained. Also to note, Blaze Pizza is opening two new locations in Toronto and soon in Oakville. The new Toronto locations are going in on John Street just south of Queen and at Yonge and Sheppard. They hope to be open by early July.
If visiting, please let us know if they are barrier-free!
