The Peacock Public House is a spacious pub and event space in the heart of Little Italy. The menu features a range of traditional English pub fare including a full English breakfast, weekend brunch and Sunday roast. The top floor hosts a weekly Tuesday trivia night and other special events such as comedy shows. Looking to cool off in the summer? Stop by for a Pimm’s cup on their accessible patio!
The Peacock is easily accessible through its barrier free front entrance on College Street. The entrance has two doors, each 37 inches in width, with no level changes. There are two removable carpets located at the front entrance. The dining area features bar height tables, booths, and standard height tables with removable chairs. The pathways are unobstructed and there is ample room to maneuver.
The accessible washroom is located on the main floor of the restaurant near the front entrance. Unfortunately, there is not an automatic button for the washroom door. The door is 35 inches wide with a lever handle that opens outwards. The washroom features a wall hook, automatic hand dryer, and a change table. There are no grab bars surrounding the toilet. The sink measures 30 inches in height, with clear space underneath.
On our visit during the day, the restaurant was well lit with large windows at the front and many overhead light fixtures, although the lighting is dimmed in the evenings. The music was kept fairly low in volume. The Peacock offers a lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch menu, as well as a children’s menu which all feature good contrast and readable font size.
The closest accessible subway station is Queen’s Park, which is approximately 2km east of The Peacock on College St. The 506 streetcar on College St. is not accessible. If arriving by car, there are two Green P parking lots located north of College St. on Clinton Street. One lot offers surface parking and the second underground parking. There are gradual curb cuts at the intersection of College and Clinton and the sidewalk in front of the restaurant is free of barriers.
