Located in the heart of the Entertainment District, Montecito offers excellent accessibility along with a large space and great atmosphere. Although the second floor of the restaurant is not accessible, the main level is huge with lots of different options. As TIFF approaches, I always have my eye out for spots to eat near the TIFF Bell Lightbox and this certainly fits the bill!
At the front entrance you will find two 40 inch wide doors, each opened by an automatic opener. The entrance is level with the wide, well-maintained sidewalk outside. One thing to note about Montecito is the low lighting - I visited during midday and the lights were down quite low. Floors inside are smooth hardwood throughout. Although some of the tables are bar height, there are also plenty of options at the standard height of 29 inches. The front section of the restaurant has wider spaces between tables and likely offers the best options for those using wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
There is a single, unisex, accessible washroom stall on the main level which is found down a 42 inch wide hallway. The bathroom door is 36 inches wide and flooring is smooth tile. The toilet features two grab bars and auto flush. The sink is 29.5 inches from the floor, offers 32 inches of width to pull into, and is also automatic.
The nearest accessible subway stop is St. Andrew, which is a few blocks to the East. A large Green P parking lot is located a few blocks NorthWest at Queen and Peter streets. At the time this article was written, there was a large amount of construction on the North side of Adelaide (across from the restaurant) so anyone travelling on the sidewalk will want to stick to the South side.
