Located in the heart of Kensington Market, Kensington Brewing Company is a new microbrewery that features a variety of craft beers brewed right on site! This inviting space offers a unique rotating selection of beers on tap and you can even bring in outside food to enjoy with your pint! You don’t want to miss out on this brewery’s daily specials, such as buck a’ shuck Mondays and $5 pint Tuesdays. Or if you are more of a homebody, grab some beers from their bottle shop to enjoy in the comfort of your own house.
Kensington Brewing Company is easily accessible through its barrier-free front entrance on Augusta Avenue. The entrance has one door measuring 35 inches in width with no level changes. The brewery will soon be expanding the width of the entrance and the new door will feature an automatic door opener. Inside there is a range of bar and standard height tables with removable benches. The pathways are unobstructed and there is ample room to maneuver.
The spacious accessible washroom is located on the main floor of the brewery. The door is 36.5 inches wide and opens inwards with a lever handle. There are two grab bars surrounding the toilet. The sink measures 29 inches in height, with clear space underneath. There are no automatic features.
The staff at Kensington Brewing Company was extremely accommodating and eager to offer assistance! The brewery is always exploring ways to make their space even more accessible and plans to change their seating from benches to individual chairs in the near future. At the time of visiting, the music was fairly low in volume and the space was adequately lit. The beer menu is posted in large print, high contrast font over the bar, but the staff are also happy telling you the menu at your seat if preferred.
For those hoping to TTC, the closest accessible subway station is Queen’s Park, which is approximately 1km east of the brewery on College Street. Alternatively, take the accessible #510 streetcar from Spadina station and get off at College Street. If arriving by car, there is a Green P parking lot located at 20 St. Andrew Street, which offers underground parking.
There are gradual curb cuts at the intersection of College and Augusta. The sidewalk in front of the restaurant had a sandwich board sign, but was otherwise free of obstacles.
